Seasonal/environmental issues
I must say, this summer has been an absolute blessing! Remember, I hail from Texas where every summer is just inches away from the underworld, no kidding just unbearable. Since my daughter still lives there I like to follow her weather...it's been tough for her! Here though, this summer was very nice. Here is the problem, while summer, spring, and even fall are nice here, winters are just...well, I'll say it, DEADLY. Especially for the exposed homeless person. The time is now to start seriously planning on dedicated steps to survive Springdale in the winter. That's what this page is dedicated to. I'll get us started, but I, and the rest of our community need your stories, thoughts and ideas to get us through this next winter, which please heed my warning, winter will be here before you know it!

I'll never forget my first homeless winter. Not only was it very, very cold, I had been involved in a cycling accident and was slave to a cane and a painful limp. I was also fairly new to homelessness. Anyway to keep my tip very simple: I stayed ahead of the game. There wasn't one day, sometimes one or two hours that I didn't know what the weather was about to do. Nowadays you can get a fairly accurate forecast ten days out! If you know what's coming you have time to plan then act. Of course there are the little things we do to keep warm but I won't get into that. I want to hear YOUR thoughts and ideas, tricks and short cuts on that. So, let's hear 'em!
